This morning the Greater Binghamton-based law firm of Levene Gouldin & Thompson, LLP (LGT) announced a significant expansion of its practice, confirming a merger with the Ithaca-based law firm of Schlather, Stumbar, Parks & Salk, LLP (SSPS). The combination will officially take effect on January 1, 2026, and the firm will continue to operate under the name Levene Gouldin & Thompson, LLP.

The strategic expansion will substantially increase LGT’s presence throughout Central New York, including the Southern Tier, by welcoming experienced attorneys and staff from SSPS who will provide a wide array of legal services from LGT’s Ithaca office located at 200 E. Buffalo Street.

New Additions from the Merger

The attorneys joining LGT from SSPS primarily focus on personal injury litigation and also bring significant experience in civil rights law, commercial litigation and transactions, trusts and estates, criminal defense, and employment law.  The new additions include:

• Jacob P. McNamara, Esq., who will become an LGT Partner.
• Aubrey D. Hetznecker, Esq., who will become an LGT Partner.
• Raymond M. Schlather, Esq., who will join as Of Counsel.

Key staff members from SSPS will also be joining the LGT team, including paralegals Mary Beth Chamberlain and MaryJo Cobb, and Miranda Fisher, who will serve as the Office Manager for the Ithaca office.

Firmwide Growth: New Partners Announced

In addition to the merger, LGT is also pleased to announce the promotion of two outstanding attorneys from its Vestal office to partner, effective January 1, 2026. This promotion reflects the firm's ongoing commitment to developing top legal talent and enhancing leadership across all locations.
