BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - A Seton Catholic graduate is on her way to Annapolis. 

Maddie Williams (daughter of Partner Kevin Williams) was inducted into the Naval Academy Class of 2022.

Williams received the United States Naval Academy superintendent's nomination and was the first person selected for her freshman or "plebe" class of 1,200 candidates. 

Approximately 16,000 students applied for the Class of 2021.

Each student is required to attend a six week Plebe Summer Program designed to prepare them for their first year at the naval academy. 

During the program plebes have no access to tv, movies, the internet, and restricted access to cell phones. 

Williams was a six-time New York State scholar athlete and two-time US Lacrosse Academic All-American while at Seton.

She plans to pursue a degree in nuclear engineering beginning in the Fall.
